October 24-25, 2025 MSS Annual Meeting

SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY

Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the submitting author to be present on October 24-25, 2025, if his/her abstract is accepted.
The entry should represent original work done by the authors.
All residents and research trainees enrolled in general surgery or surgical specialty residency training or fellows-in-training programs in Minnesota.
Medical students enrolled in a medical school in Minnesota – with an interest in surgery.
Papers can be presented, but not published, prior to presenting at the MSS Annual Meeting.\
One of the abstract authors must be a Fellow or Associate Fellow member of the Minnesota Surgical Society – An ACS Chapter.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Submit abstract using the online submission form by August 3, 2025 at 11:59pm.
All abstracts must be submitted online via the MSS Abstract submission website using the online submission form. Please be sure to read all instructions, information, and policies closely.
Upload ONE graph or charts in .jpg/.png format only (.PDF and .doc are not accepted formats)
Your abstract will be accepted either as a podium presentation or e-poster presentation

HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR SUBMISSION

- If submitting an abstract use the following headings: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

If submitting a case review use the following headings: Introduction/Objective, Case Presentation, Discussion, Conclusion.

- If submitting a video abstract, use the following headings: Background, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

Your video (3 min max) should also be submitted in .mp4, .wmv, .avi or another high-quality video file format. Must be narrated in English with no background music.

- Please do not email or attach your video to the online submission form. Upload submissions only using the link above. Videos are due at the same time you submit your abstract.

PAPER COMPETITIONS

CANCER PAPER WINNER

Please indicate that your abstract should be considered for this award on the online abstract form.
You must be a resident or fellow-in-training to be eligible for this award.
The winner’s abstract will be submitted to the ACS CoC Cancer Research Competition.
Winner will be announced on Saturday, October 24, 2025.

TRAUMA PAPER WINNER

Please indicate that your abstract should be considered for this award on the online abstract form.
You must be a resident to be eligible for this award.
The winner will represent the Minnesota COT at a regional trauma meeting.
Winner will be announced on Saturday, October 24, 2025.

MSS BEST PAPER AWARD

The abstracts must be submitted and presented by a resident, research, or medical student.
Each eligible presenter will be judged at the time of their presentation during the meeting.

Winner will be announced on Saturday, October 24, 2025.
