SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
- Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the submitting author to be present on May 3-4, 2024, if his/her abstract is accepted.
- The entry should represent original work done by the authors.
- All residents and research trainees enrolled in general surgery or surgical specialty residency training or fellows-in-training programs in Minnesota.
- Medical students enrolled in a medical school in Minnesota – with an interest insurgery.
- Papers can be presented, but not published, prior to presenting at the MSS Annual Meeting.
- One of the abstract authors must be a Fellow or Associate Fellow member of the Minnesota Surgical Society – An ACS Chapter.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
- Submit abstract using the online submission form by March 3, 2024 at 11:59pm.
- All abstracts must be submitted online via the MSS Abstract submission website using the online submission form. Please be sure to read all instructions, information, and policies closely.
- Upload ONE graph or charts in .jpg/.png format only
- Your abstract will be accepted either as a podium presentation or e-poster presentation
HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR SUBMISSION
- If submitting an abstract use the following headings:
Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion - If submitting a case review use the following headings:
Introduction, Summary, Case Description, Discussion, Conclusion, Lessons Learned - If submitting a video abstract use the following headings:
Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion
NOTE: Your video (3 min max) should also be submitted in .mp4, .wmv, .avi
or another high-quality video file format. Must be narrated in English with no
background music. Upload your video here.
- Do not type these headings in the body of the abstract.
PAPER COMPETITIONS
CANCER PAPER WINNER
- Please indicate that your abstract should be considered for this award on the online abstract form.
- You must be a resident or fellow-in-training to be eligible for this award.
- The winner’s abstract will be submitted to the ACS CoC Cancer Research Competition.
- Winner will be announced on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
TRAUMA PAPER WINNER
- Please indicate that your abstract should be considered for this award on the online abstract form.
- You must be a resident to be eligible for this award.
- The winner will represent the Minnesota COT at a regional trauma meeting.
- Winner will be announced on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
MSS BEST PAPER AWARD
- The abstracts must be submitted and presented by a resident, research, or medical student.
- Each eligible presenter will be judged at the time of their presentation during the meeting.
- Winner will be announced on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Support the Minnesota Surgical Society Annual Meeting
The 1st Annual Meeting of the Minnesota Surgical Society will take place May 3-4, 2024. MSS usually hosts two meetings per year, but in 2024 we are hosting one meeting. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your company before surgeons, residents, and medical students from Minnesota. Approximately 65 surgeons attend the meeting each year.
